KP: They say that ‘art imitates life.’ Which Fire
Sets Fire song is most personal to you? Share
the ‘story behind the music.’
FSF: Oddly enough, all of the songs are very
personal to us. The subject matter is close to what is
happening in our lives. Matt draws a lot of his lyrics
from real life situations that mean something to all of
us at some level. Each song is coming from a real
place and transformed into a great song. Many of the
songs are actual stories of our lives and ourselves.
KP: This pandemic has taken a toll on both
musicians and the live music scene. How has Fire
Sets Fire adjusted their business plan in the midst
of COVID-19?
FSF: It is amazing how COVID has stopped the music
and live performance industry in its tracks. We were
playing great gigs supporting some amazing bands like
Vince Neil, Puddle of Mudd, DOKKEN, and RATT. One
of our last shows was direct support for Blue Oyster
Cult. It took a lot of hard work paying your dues, opening
shows to get to that point, and overnight that was gone.
KP: Are you currently playing any live shows, and
do you have future bookings/tour plans in 2021?
FSF: We are not playing live right now. We are gearing
up to play this summer. Los Angeles and California as
a whole is still mostly closed down for live shows, so
most likely we will be playing out of state. We have a lot
of opportunities in other states, but it will require some
travel to make happen.
