Franz Von moved to the UK from May Pen, Jamaica, in

1991, and being a bloke who knows what's what, there
was no messing about with trying out London,
Manchester, or Liverpool first. He just went straight to
Sheffield and had done with it.

Within a few weeks, the young Franz started high school,
and that transition straight into the school system was a
massive culture shock for him. But conversely, it also
helped him to adjust quickly. He began going with his
brothers to rapping sessions with a friend who recorded
it all, and unhappy with the way things were sounding, he
didn't give up, but multiplied his effort. These days, he
makes what he does look easy. But it took a lot of time
and hard work to make things sound that effortless. I
caught up with Franz to get the lowdown on what he's
been up to lately.
