MIDLAND is one of my favorite
new rising country bands and
tonight, they performed once
again at AVA Amphitheater,
Casino Del Sol, my second time
seeing these guys…and that says
a lot. They delivered a headlining
set full of hits like “Drinkin’
Problem” and “Burn Out,” kicking
off the show with my favorite
Midland tune “Playboys.” All told,
Midland performed 15 songs, one
being a cover of The Beatles’
“Birthday.” They topped off the
show with 5 encore songs -- much
to the delight of the enthused
concert-goers.
This band has a really cool Eagles
country-rock sound to them, and
at times, a song or two had a Chris
Isaac flavor. Their songs
“Cheating Song” and ‘Fast Hearts
and Slow Towns” showcased
Mark, Cameron, and Jess’s
beautiful harmonies, while their
last tunes “14 Gears” and “Put
The Hurt On Me” had a ghostly
desert vibe. One of the biggest
audience reactions, from their
performance of “Mr. Lonely,” one
of the band’s latest singles.
