You are an indie band trying to get you name out there.
Rick Springfield hears your music and invites you to open a show for him. You do. He and his fans love you
so much, that one show turns into several years of opening for Rick Springfield. That is what happened for the
duo group Dauzat St. Marie (pronounced “dō-zaht saynt mah-ree). Mat Dauzat and Heather St. Marie make
up the duo, and not only have they opened for Rick Springfield, but they were also involved in a song featuring
Zak Brown and other country music stars. Mat and Heather were kind enough to answer some questions
about their career and what 2023 holds for the duo.
TB: How did Dauzat St. Marie come about?
Heather: Mat and I started singing together as teenagers, getting our start as an acoustic duo in coffee shops
while we were putting our rock band together. As soon as we put the band together, we started touring quite
heavily. As gas prices rose, band tours became fewer and farther between, so Mat and I formed Dauzat St.
Marie as a supplemental touring project in between band tours. However, Dauzat St. Marie took off much
quicker and in a bigger way than we anticipated and quickly became the musical focus.
