For a few years now, Brian Berggoetz and I have been
exchanging emails and talking music. And every time he
releases a new CD, All I need to do is check my mailbox…
and voila…there’s the latest CD release by Brian Berggoetz!
What I know about him is that he has been playing acoustic
music in Tucson since 1989. He's opened for a few touring
acts including Reverend Horton Heat, Charlie Sexton, and
Jerry Giddens. He's also played the 1990 SXSW festival in
Austin and nightclubs in Tucson, Phoenix, Austin, and Santa
Fe. Brian has performed with local artists and recorded an
album with area artist Stefan George.
His songs are about love and Armageddon, and the music is
infectious and danceable. The band is comprised of top tier
musicians that utilize acoustic guitar, sax, bass, drums, with
the addition of a female backup vocalist to create full-bodied
2-part harmonies. Brian calls his sound “acoustic fusion,”
which blends elements of jazz, rock, funk, and blues.
Brian just released a brand-new solo album called
“Wildflower.” Lucky for me, my car still has a workable CD
player.
