TB: In 2022 you performed at the iconic Grand Ole Opry. What are your thoughts as you
look back at that performance?
TH: Reflecting on our 2022 performance at the Grand Ole Opry House is a surreal and cherished
moment for The Heels. Stepping onto such an iconic stage, a lifelong dream realized, brought a
mix of awe and gratitude. The halls are marked with legendary music memorabilia and to be a part
of that legacy was both humbling and exhilarating. It still serves as a reminder that our dreams, no
matter how grand, are attainable with perseverance and a genuine love for the craft.
TB: Your latest album ‘Work of Heart’ was released this year. Talk a little bit about that
album.
TH: This is the first project where every song on the album is mixed with sound healing and healing
frequency. It’s a blend of our traditional country roots, pop, and spirituality. We feel like it’s a perfect
balance of conversation and poetry. We were high up in the mountains overlooking Kootenay Lake
in Southeastern BC. We had an international tour planned which was canceled due to the second
round of lockdowns and event cancellations within the
pandemic regulations. We were devastated but decided
to keep the time we had planned to spend together on
the road and book a cabin far away from the world and
create. It was therapeutic for us all. Kyla and Bobbi
brought their dogs and Brittni was pregnant. Bobbi and
Brittni brought their husbands. Brittni’s husband is The
Heels producer, Anthony Fiddler of Fiddler Productions.
They both joined the trio for an escape and wrote some
of the most honest music The Heels have ever made with
remote co-writes via zoom to add some of The Heels’
favorite Nashville co-writers.
TB: How long have you been working on the songs
for the album?
TH: The songs for ‘Work Of Heart’
mark a chapter of time in our lives
where we were struggling to find
faith in our world and hoping for a
better tomorrow. They were all
written during the weeks we spent
cozying up in the cabin in the
mountains overlooking the lake
and escaping the uncertainty and
restrictions of the pandemic.
