MH: Switching up the questions up a bit, what would you be doing right now if
it wasn't for your music career?
RL: Probably a dentist or a farmer.
MH: How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?
RL: It's changed it dramatically. There's both good and bad from it. I choose to look at
the good. Anyone can become world known from anywhere in the world. That was not
possible when the labels decided who and what we should like.
MH: What has been the oddest show you have performed at? Any fun stories
you want to share?
RL: Lots of interesting and fun things. When I was with Rob Halford, we were playing
this ginormous 4000-capacity club somewhere in South America. The opening song
was ‘Into the Pit,’ whole step metal stuff. All the guys are doing their best tough guy
act on stage and as soon as the song was over, Paula Abdul's ‘Cold Hearted’ comes
blaring loud and clear through the P.A. My tech had taped my wireless to the side of
the amp and it was acting like a transmitter for a radio station. The look of death the
tech got was actually quite funny.
MH: Do you have any upcoming shows? If not, how are you keeping yourself
busy?
RL: Our touring was to start in April. So far, all dates have been moved all the way
through June. It looks like July might not happen either. I've actually been super busy.
I finished a 10-song CD for an artist I've been working with named Emily Eyre. I'm
currently wrapping up mixes for Dato's 10-song CD. I've been writing, recording, and
also doing a weekly video release on my YouTube channel (Robby Lochner). ‘The
Best Years of our Lives’ was my 7th weekly video release. The first one was ‘Social
Distancing’ with Dato. The other videos have been classical, ragtime, instructional,
and a funny moment with my daughter. I'm getting ready to do a video for some
acoustic tracks of the ‘Once Bitten Acoustic Bytes’ that was released May 1st. I'm also
doing all the shipping for that release, both CD's and vinyl. That alone is a huge
undertaking for one person. I have also been hired to do tracks for different artists. On
top of all that, I am co-hosting a weekly talk show on 103.5 Jack FM's Facebook page
with the number one rated radio DJ in West Texas, Matt Drake. The show is called
‘The Hangout.’ It's live every Monday night at 6:00 p.m. PST. It features a different
celebrity guest every week in an unscripted, unedited format. We take questions from
the newsfeed and the producers pick people to join into the conversation, making it
interactive with the audience.
MH: What is one message you would give to your fans? Any last words?
RL: Stay safe, stay well, keep listening to music, and hopefully, we will see you on the
road real soon!
MH: Robby it's been a pleasure. Thank you, thank you!
