I was honored to run into some personal faves of mine…Nicko McBrain, drummer for Iron Maiden;
Fred Armisen, an actor and a drummer for Trenchmouth and The 8G Band (he also sat in with Devo
and Blue Man Group); Frank Hannon, guitarist/songwriter/founder of Tesla; and Alex Gonzalez,
drummer/songwriter for Maná and De La Tierra.

My takeaway is that NAMM is a conglomerate of booths, performances, demonstrations, seminars,
and many, many instruments, equipment, and new technologies. It can be dizzying and a little hectic
with its sensory overload. However, at the heart of it all, it’s the people that make NAMM the
resounding success it is, and year after year, they return in droves to experience it. After all, it’s not
only about the music, but the people that create it!
