Marty Haviik: Personally, it’s always a thrill when I hear my name being called by the likes of Marco
Mendoza of Dead Daisies, or Dug Pinnick of Kings X, or DJ Ashba of Guns ‘N’ Roses (who
remembered me from last year and the year before). I was also fortunate to run into celebrity
musicians such as Rudy Sarzo, Derek St. Holmes, Dave Amato, and a whole a bunch of metalheads,
including Aaron Patrick (All That Remains), Tyler Connolly (Theory Of A Deadman), Kevin Roentgen
(Buckcherry), Wayne Lozinak (Hatebreed), Karl Sanders (Nile), Rusty Cooley (Day of Reckoning),
Mike Spreitzer (DevilDriver), Neal Tiemann (DevilDriver), Ashes (DevilDriver), Mike Leon (Soulfly),
Meegs Rascon (Gemini Syndrome/Coal Chamber), Damon Johnson (Solo/Thin Lizzy/Brother
Cane)…and many more.

As has been my tradition for each of my NAMM experiences, lunch is always at my favorite pizza
joint, California Pizza. Pizza and a beer recharged my body for another 6 hours. Dinners were always
in a calm, sit-down eatery, which provides some much-needed wind-down and decompression.
