Warming up the audience was The Effect, which channeled a
Journey and Toto vibe and served a piping hot musical entrée to
the fans of Billy Idol. The crowd began to buzz with anticipation,
knowing they were about to witness a true rock icon in action.
The Effect was fairly unknown to the Tucson crowd. I kept hearing
people behind me yelling, “Who are you?” I didn’t find out until
Billy Idol thanked them. On top of that I had been talking to them
days after the show, and it turned out I was talking to Trev
Lukather and Nic Collins, Steve Lukather and Phil Collins’ kids.
