the footbridge connecting Elphinstone Road and Parel
stations, not on September twenty-ninth, two thousand
seventeen, but a whole day later, in hospital, succumbing
to internal injuries, taking the death toll to twenty-three.

3202 passengers died
and 3363 were injured
on the suburban rail
network in 2016

While 8 people die
on the local train tracks
every day, 31%
per cent stay untraced

2114 deaths occurred on Central
and only 1088 on Western,
Central being more than twice
as big as Western
