can be inserted, sans waver,
                     baya-haath-ka-khel sass

                     with which, swivelling ass
                     the young shaver

skips off the edge, hoists basket to head,
                     skedaddles across now-empty track

                     I silent-scream come back!
while almost as good as breakfast in bed

Crow breakfasts on board the free fish ferry
                     swimming through the air

                     while without turning a hair
                     Mother walks into the sea

of commuters, as casual as Crow,
                     pert and confident-lithe, expressive

as eyes her hands, shorn of excessive
                     movement, little wrist-flicks that go

with her hip-slung sari’d ease, green
bangles, nose-pin, a beauty in pink

                     and blue, she strides off-screen—
and for a second all currents cease.
