dari kalimat situasi. Adapun tense yang digunakan dalam kalimat jawaban
adalah kalimat past perfect dipadukan dengan kalimat yang menggunakan
modals + have+verb 3.

Betty : Well, I finished my shopping and then I met Nancy and we had a chat. I thought
you hadn’t finished your shopping.
Jim : Having a chat with Nancy? That explains why you are an hour late! If I had
known that, I wouldn’t have hurried to get here.
Betty : I thought you would be late. I would have hurried if I had thought you were
waiting for me here. And I wouldn’t have talked to Nancy for so long if
you hadn’t had so many things to buy.
