food for butterflies. The bramble thicket provides an area for various
birds, such as wrens and robins, and also provides some cover for small
mammals such as rabbits, stoats, field mice, hedgehogs and foxes.
While the surrounding land is industrialised, intensively farmed or built
upon, with very few wild areas left, Houlton’s Covert is away from any
form of intensive farming, so wildlife thrives.
