Page 3 - Come Fly with me-In progress
P. 3
of my life I have feared many things, but today that fear is gone and all
that is left is the reality that life is too short and if you don't take
advantages of what life has to offer, you will forever regret it. I won't have
regrets, that is for those who didn't take a chance. My life has been full of
risks and chance-taking, and of course, they didn't always turn out well,
but I wouldn't give up one of the risks I took, because the world is a very
small place unless you are willing to Fly
I reach the bottom, still alive and well, and proud of myself for what I have
just accomplished. No more than 30 minutes later I am told that we are on
to adventure number two.
When you have people around you as I do, especially Garry, there are few
things that I've been able to get away without doing. We are now headed to
a helicopter transporting us to another ski site. The snow is coming down
blanketing the runway, and looking out of the window there is little
visibility. How can I get them not to take this flight? There was one thing
my Grandpa always said to me when I was a kid, "never fly in bad
weather," this would certainly qualify as bad weather. I couldn't stop my
heart from racing, and all I could do was grab the armrests of my seat and
silently pray that we make it to our destination, and that it wouldn't be our
final destination.
Memories come rushing back to me of my youth. It was not one that you
would call ordinary. I grew up at an airport. Not literally, we did have a
house, but my grandparents owned an airport, fondly known as Flabob in
Riverside County. Every waking moment that I was not at school I
gravitated back to my favorite place, with my favorite people My Noni and
Grandpa. I literally grew up with the sound of airplane engines as the
background music of my life.
