People's Church 205
the church's ecclesiological and missiological
self-understanding and vocation, compels the
Armenian Church to reject any sort of com-
promise that might jeopardize the country’s
stability and threaten the people's rights
and interests; it also compels the Church to
speak out boldly when the people are faced
with problems and crises affecting their life,
to oppose all kinds of structures, ideologies,
and governances that generate corruption
and injustice, and to work for a healthy
society sustained by ethical and spiritual
values and governed on the basis of equal
rights, justice, and respect for human dignity.
In this way, the Armenian Church can safe-
guard its moral integrity, strengthen its
authority, and remain faithful to its God-
given vocation; in this way, the Armenian
Church may become truly a people’s church.
