1. Email to be circulated to Clubs introducing the School of Excellence
Dear Secretaries,
We are beginning the process of forming an U14 camogie development squad for the 20XX season. Development squads are
a great opportunity for girls to develop and play alongside other girls from outside of their clubs and to possibly represent
and play for their county.
In order to give more girls an opportunity to showcase their camogie ability and application, we are commencing a Camogie
- Winter School of Excellence program which will introduce girls to appropriate speed & agility and strength & conditioning
techniques, nutritional advice for teenage athletes and the development of the technical skills of the game through camogie
wall ball sessions and small sided games.
We will run two blocks of Winter sessions involving a 90 minute session each Saturday, one 5 week block pre-Christmas and
th
one 7 week block after Christmas. We propose to run the pre-Christmas block from Saturday November 16 to Saturday
th
th
December 14 inclusive and the post-Christmas block from Saturday, January 18 to Saturday, February 29 2020 inclusive.
th
There will be a €2 session charge per girl which will be collected on two occasions, €10 on November 16th for the pre-
Christmas block and €14 on January 18th for the post-Christmas block.
In order to work with a large number of girls overall but the ensure numbers are manageable week on week to ensure close
supervision of the various sessions, we will split numbers between West, Mid and East Clare. The clubs in each region are
outlined in the below table. Precise locations for sessions in each area will be facilities and numbers dependent and will be
communicated in the week of the 11 of November.

We will hold two inter-regional blitzes during the 2 winter block. In early March we will decide on the panel for the U14
County Development Squad and let girls back to their clubs for the U14 club championship and Feile competitions.
To be eligible girls have to be registered members of a club and be born in 200X or, in cases of exceptional ability, 200X. We
ask that clubs only send players whom they believe have the potential to play at county level. In order to manage numbers,
maximum numbers to be sent from clubs are A, B or C grade dependent, in accordance with the below table;
