(A) For instance, the biggest invention made
during a war is the Internet. It was invented by
the U.S. Army during the Cold War. What they
wanted was a safe way to communicate in case
phone lines were destroyed in the war. Since
then, it has continued to develop, and now is used in our everyday lives.
(B) We all know that war is a terrible thing. It brings violence and divisions
among nations. However, it also improves the quality of our life by
advancing technology. Many kinds of technology we use every day were
invented during wartime.
(C) In addition, another popular technology created during wartime is the
microwave oven. This invention came about by accident during World War
II. One day an engineer was working on a radar system for the army.
Suddenly, a chocolate bar in his pocket melted. He discovered that
microwaves from the radar could rapidly heat food. After a lot of
experiments, he helped create the first microwave oven.
