Unit 1 READING 2

T raveling is fun because you see
new places and people. There
are many ways to travel. Young
people travel differently from old
people. Young people usually don’t
have much money, so they have to
find cheap ways to travel. Young
people take buses, trains, or cars.

Traveling by train is popular because it is more comfortable and faster than
riding a bus. You can do a lot of sightseeing from the train, and you can visit
new places since trains make many stops. If you travel alone, you won’t get
bored because there are people to talk to on the train. It is a relaxing way
to travel.

If people don’t have enough money to travel, then they can hitchhike.
Hitchhiking is free. (a) You stand next to the road, lift your arm, and stick
out your thumb. (b) People might give you a ride to your final stop, but
many times you just have to keep hitchhiking until you reach your
destination. (c) You get rides from strangers. You do not know if they are
good people or not. (d) Because of this, hitchhiking is illegal in many places.
