Unit 2 READING 2

W hen you grow up, what kind of
work do you want to do? Do you
already know, or are you still thinking
about it? It might be a bit early for you
to decide. Many kids think they want to
become doctors, lawyers, teachers,
businessmen, firefighters, etc. But if you
are still thinking about it, why not consider an unusual job?

If you like to play video games, you could become a professional video
game player. Professional video game players usually work for video game
companies or video game magazines. (a) If they work for a video game
company, they test the game before the company starts to sell it. (b) If they
work for a video game magazine, they play and review new video games. (c)
If they like the game, it will probably sell very well. (d) Can you imagine
doing what you love and making money too? No one would tell you to stop
playing video games. Now that would be a perfect job!

English Usage

• stop + ~ing / stop + to infinitive
- Some verbs followed by -ing forms can also be followed by an infinitive of
