Social Media Musings – Part III My Reflections on the Practice and Life

For those with small kids experiencing cabin fever, try telling them stories where they’re the protagonists. When the boys were young, I would ask them for the characters they wanted to be - astronauts, spies, firefighters - and then improvise a story around and about them. Then get your kids to write down the story and illustrate it with crayons, markers and colored pencils. It’s a fun, creative family activity.
If your firm is doing weekly zoom calls to check in on your team, listen carefully and intently to what your team members are sharing. Don’t simply have zoom calls as something you’re checking off and pat yourself on the back if you’re not carefully listening to what your team is saying, both through their words and body language.
In these times, check in on at least one person a day by phone, text, e-mail or instant message.
I’m heartened by how everyone I interact with in the profession appreciates that we’ll get through this and that we will get through this together.
With everything being canceled, take time to read those books you’ve been waiting to read.
While others are binge watching Netflix, binge watch free online CLE. There’s a lot out there.
Calm. That’s what our firms, our teams, and our clients expect of us now.
There’s probably someone at your law firm right now afraid about what’s going on. Take a moment and text them and reassure them. We need community.
