Social Media Musings – Part III My Reflections on the Practice and Life
Maintain regular communications with your team throughout this ordeal. Many are using Zoom to have regular video conference
calls to stay in touch, discuss caseloads and support one another.
There’s someone at your firm, right now, who is scared about what’s happening. Be understanding, listen and help when you can.
With many of us spending more time at home, take the opportunity to write the book, learn the other language, read the books or take the online class you’ve been meaning to do. Change yourself, change the world.
We’re all social creatures. We’re going to be less social person to person. Find ways to use this platform and others to stay in touch and support each other.
This is a new reality for all of us. If you’re
a lawyer, young or experienced, and have questions, concerns or just need an ear to discuss all these changes, message me. We’re in this together.
These are challenging times, no question. Challenging times make us stronger, smarter, wiser and more imaginative.
Once we make a change as a society, we rarely go back. Our society is transitioning white collar work from an office setting to a home setting, including law firms. Once the crisis is over, I don’t see us making a wholesale move back. Working from home for law firms, which had been taking a foothold for a while, will grow exponentially on a permanent basis.
A lot of firms are creating COVID-19 webinars, which are great, but understand many clients are in the middle of all this craziness and don’t have time to sit through a webinar. Create a fact or info sheet that has answers to common questions you’re getting, and circulate those.
COVID-19 has introduced us to the world of online forums and each of us has attended enough of them to realize we can sponsor our own. Consider starting an online marketing Zoom call, or book club, or virtual happy hour, or a class - the options are endless - to build and deepen your tribe.
If you’re a voluntary bar association, the content your members are craving the most is information, articles, e-books, zoom meetings and webinars on remote and virtual business development in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 has grounded us, making in person social and business interactions difficult. That leaves us social media platforms such as this to start and build relationships which may lead to referrals. Make the most of LinkedIn. With COVID, It’s one of the few games in town.
In this COVID-19 period, with all the challenges and stress, folks on social media, including on LinkedIn, are looking for you to share, to be authentic, to be honest with your challenges and share what you’ve learned not only from your victories, but more often, from your stumbles and failures.
A lot of firms are sharing great content on COVID-19 for law firms, businesses
