Social Media Musings – Part III My Reflections on the Practice and Life
   I used to hate the idea of growing older. Today, I embrace it. With age, I’ve learned that life never ceases to punch us in the mouth and that it never ceases to hurt but age has also taught me that we have the constitution not to crumble and not to fall apart. Knowing that you’ll still be standing no matter what makes all the difference. You young lawyers, that calamity you’re facing? You’re going to be fine. Just fine.
Clients can smell both confidence and fear in their lawyers. The pheromone of confidence attracts clients. The stench of fear scares them off. Emit the right scent.
Don’t let your boss define your self-worth. You are beyond valuable.
As a young lawyer, measure success by what you have overcome. Climbing out of a pit is often more challenging than scaling a mountain.
When you walk into a cocktail party or event, and feel nervous, understand that many in the room feel the same way.
Fear doesn’t exist. It is not corporeal. It has no life, other than the one we give it. It has no air other than the oxygen we breathe into it and no subsistence other than what we feed
