GASCOYNE BASKETBALL
September saw the beginning of the Youth Basketball Program in Carnarvon. We ran a combined sports day with Stephen Michael Foundation with a focus on football and basketball. This started a fantastic working relationship between BWA and SMF culminating in
an MOU being signed to help bring basketball back to Carnarvon. PCYC Carnarvon have been pushing hard for hoop to return for the Carnarvon Youth and have been an integral partner in getting the game up and running in Carnarvon. Many community groups and schools have jumped in to help with basketball in Carnarvon and with continued commitment and cooperation the future of basketball is very promising.
We have now delivered numerous school clinics in the high school and primary schools. The after-school program has proven to be a huge success with up to 40
kids turning up for an hour of drills and then an hour of games on Tuesday afternoons during term four. Our goal is to see this turn into an actual competition by the end of 2021.
We have delivered coaching clinics in both Carnarvon and Exmouth that were very well attended.
