 FACILITIES
Basketball WA continues to seek more facilities for basketball in the State, while is has been great to see the expansions of Warwick Stadium, Joondalup, Mundaring and now Willetton coming on line we still have significant strains in the metro area which we are looking to develop strategies to mitigate the shortfall
in courts, such as the mobile temporary courts, warehouse conversions and lobbying govern- ments local, state and federal for additional resources in this area.

leagues. BWA is also looking to expand into the community area trying to support and develop the youth of tomorrow utilising basketball to achieve some broader life goals and objectives. Finally, our locality lends itself to developing much stronger ties with the Asian continent to hopefully expand our reach and provide opportunities for our members to grow and developing their trade.
BOARD
I would like to thank the Board for its ongoing and continual support, those members be-
ing Keith Dunlap (Chair), Jeff Dennis (Deputy Chair), Sandra Riches, Jennifer Riatti, Brian Atkin, Craig Coleman and Andy Stewart, for their dedication and the free time that they so willing give to Basketball WA.
STAFF
I would also like to thank the hard-working staff at BWA who do the big jobs in actually implementing our programs, supporting our members and driving the sport forward. There are some big asks around things like Country Week and State Champs, weekend and night time work and significant travel that require everyone’s passion and dedication to make it work.
The sport of basketball is vast and takes many forms, is delivered by a variety of stakeholders and has a strong and professional affiliated membership determined to make a difference in the community. We couldn’t function without the support of our key partners and our deepest thanks go to Healthways, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Venues West for their ongoing support and commitment to the sport of Basketball.
Finally, and most importantly, a big thank you to all of the Basketball Community who volunteer week in and week out, from Club basketball to State teams, giving your time and effort.
Rob Clement, CEO
Over the past twelve months the Board has continued to make the strategic investments back into the sport to ensure its long term future and capability, while this lead to a loss on our income statements for the 2018 and 2019 years we had put money away over the previous five years to invest in such an outcome and 2019 saw us move back into a net cash positive position, generating a surplus cash result of $533,000 at year end due to accounting treatments of the new fee structure.
Significant investment continued in the Perth Lynx’s program to ensure an elite pathway is available to Western Australian female athletes. WA is also one of the leading state in the integration of the wheelchair basketball with a national and state based development program in conjunction with WAIS and Basketball Australia, ownership and consolidation of the national league teams
saw them play under the same brand the Wheelcats for the first time.
COMPETITIONS
Our competitions keep going from strength to strength with the State Championships recording it best ever attendance, along with year on year growth of the country championships and the expansion of WABL, more and more Western Australians are enjoying our domestic competitions.
FUTURE
The future like all sports has its challenges however Basketball in WA is well placed to grow and develop. The University sector is looking to develop a national league in the foreseeable future as well BWA may well enter into the NBL One competition aligning the WA base competition with the other state based
