 SOUTH WEST ROADSHOW CAMPS
In 2019 we introduced South West Roadshow camps. We travelled to Manjimup, Busselton, Bunbury,
Collie and Margaret River to deliver basketball camps throughout the school holidays. This was done in the partnership with South West Slammers, which then led to the Regionals in 2019. This 4-weekend long event saw 10 local associations and over 110 teams from South West battle it out for the title. Everyone who loves basketball and lives in South West was present, either as a volunteer, player, or a spectator!
SOUTH WEST DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
South West Development Program preparations began in 2019. This program aims to bring together the most talented Under U12 and 14 athletes in a competitive environment. The aim of the program is to expose, educate, and develop athlete’s knowledge and understanding of concepts needed to be successful
in BWA High Performance Programs. Sessions feature guest coaches and presenters from all areas of sport and athlete development and are designed to prepare athletes for success in future BWA High Performance Programs by introducing them to
areas like, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, and Psychology. Additionally, there will be an option for the selected athletes to attend a camp in Perth in April, which will combine athletes from other regions across the state, which will give athletes the opportunity to compete in an environment not found anywhere else in Western Australia. Due to the numbers and the inter- est in this program, we chose to promote Hyundai and print the logos on the singlets.
WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
Wheelchair basketball taster sessions in Bunbury - Over the course of the 2-3 year program referees will learn about advanced on court officiating techniques as well as off court expectations of elite level referees. We hope during this program to upskill referees from this group to be suitable for selection to development tours and the SBL Referee Development Program in future.
