Healthcare at Home: How the Amish Made Me a Better Doctor
Patrick Rohal, MD, CovenantMD
In honor of our host city, PHA makes the connection between homecare and
healthcare in the Amish community. Dr. Rohal has spent much of his career as
a doctor for the Plain (Amish and Mennonite), a setting he describes as “frontier
medicine.” A physician with ConvenantMD, Dr. Rohal provides the Amish and
Mennonite self-pay, low cost, yet mainstream medical care. Like home-based care,
direct primary care saves patients a lot of money and emergency visits, and better
coordinates overall care.
