Franklin Historical Society
To Present a Program on Daniel Webster
The Franklin Historical So- ciety, 21 Holy Cross Road at Webster Place, will present a program on Daniel Webster, Thursday, June 8th, at 7 pm. The presentation will focus on those places in Franklin that are directly related to his local legacy, quotes from his most famous speeches, and a tie-in to the very building in which the slideshow and talk will be given, highlighting not only a pivotal time in Ameri- can history, but an event that may have forever imprinted the historical perception of an American president.
Light refreshments will be served after the program, followed by a brief business meeting to which all are encour- aged to attend. There is no ad- mission charge, all are welcome, and there is plentiful free parking both behind the Society’s build- ing and off Holy Cross Road (please pull you car completely off the pavement to allow easy
access for emergency vehicles. The Society and the Franklin Fire department will be most ap- preciative).

The Society is open every Saturday now through Labor Day weekend, 10 am to 2 pm. Perhaps you would be interested in some of those stories?
The Education Com- mittee of the Society has recently made walking or shopping in downtown Franklin an opportu- nity to learn a little about Franklin’s history! Look for posted “QR codes” on the bulletin board of Marceau Park, in the windows of The Franklin Café, the of- fice of the Independence Financial Advisers in the IOOF building, the Water- horse Pub, and Franklin’s City Hall (inside, in the
cabinet touting upcoming events at the Franklin Opera House). When accessing the codes with your smart phone, you will be taken to a page giving a brief de- scription of the building’s history, and 3-4 vintage photographs. Enjoy!
