When it comes to local food, though, perhaps the most fun is the opportunity to pick your own fruits, and two well-known local blueberry farms are Brox Blue- berry and Maple Syrup farm in Plymouth and Kemah’s Blue- berry Farm in Alexandria.
Brox has a plentiful field of berries, protected from birds and wildlife, with a gigantic net- ted tent to help preserve their juicy blueberries for their many human customers instead. Lo- cated on Quincy Road, just down the road from Longview Farm, they are now open each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon for as long as the berries last.
In Alexandria, people can enjoy a drive up Mt. Cardigan Rd. where they can follow the signs to Kemah Farm, located on a quiet dirt lane known as “Mud Hill Road.” The lane will lead

 to the family-owned blueberry
farm, where there is a kiosk to welcome visitors. Inside there is information on the farm, con- tainers for picking, and a place to later drop off their payment for whatever they harvested. Kemah Farm covers 100 acres of land that lie just below Mount Cardigan with beautiful views of the Fowler River Valley as well. Approximately 500 blueberry bushes cover a little more than 20 of those acres. Hours for the farm are 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily.
While these are just a few nearby options for people to shop and enjoy a summer day, there are always other great op- portunities to buy fresh eggs and vegetables at smaller farm stands along the back roads of New Hampshire.
Those looking for even more places to shop local can check the state’s Farm Stand Directory at www.agriculture.nh.gov.
Theresa and Jeff Walker welcome all to the Walker Family farm stand in Bristol, where they’ll find great meat, fruits, and vegetables and even have a chance to meet their friends, Ginger Snap, Caramel, Bun-Bun, and Clover, the cow.
