assets to accomplish that task.
Slowly, methodically the hunter seeker pack rolled forward. Delta
had come about one-half click (.31 miles) passed the first mine belt when we
came upon the failed preparations of the expected mote concept/ ring of fire
the S-2 Marines had prepared us for…. The trap Iraqis planned to flood with
oil and catch it and us on fire while we were trapped inside had failed to
materialize. Though we could see the attempt was there to create this
mayhem, obviously time had not been on the side of its maniacal creators,
and Delta again cheated the 80% casualty rate predicted and we pressed on.
