Archbishop’s Conversation with Student Leaders

group of us attended the annual conversation with
A Archbishop Denis Hart, at St Bernard’s College, Essendon
in March. We joined 150 other senior Catholic students who
discussed Pope Francis’s theme of the Year of Mercy. The
Archbishop addressed us and spoke of his personal faith journey
before talking about faith and the influences of society.
We gained special insight into his own experiences when he
answered questions from the audience, and commented on
topical issues such as marriage equality and the treatment of
refugees. We are all familiar with these contemporary social issues,
and it helped to have the Church’s view on them explained.

This opportunity gave us immeasurable insights, as Archbishop
Hart shone a light on past changes in the Church and on strategies and how the students at their schools live out their
