COLLEGE LIFE
The Way of the Cross (Easter Liturgy)
D uring our liturgy, on the last Monday of first term, two groups of staff and students gathered in separate parts of the college
grounds. While moving towards the Gonzales Centre students portrayed Jesus, his mother and disciples, and re-enacted the
events leading to his crucifixion.
We paused along the way for readings from the scriptures as Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, was betrayed by Judas, denied by
Peter and condemned to death by the people.
After each reading, there was a reflection and a prayer to which we responded: “Lord move us, change us, make us into your image.”
We asked God to help us serve others, to become instruments of peace, to stand up for what is right, to help us and political and
church leaders act with love and to turn to Jesus when feeling lonely or sad.
Inside the Gonz we witnessed the final moments of Jesus’ life. We watched him die as the words “Father, into your hands I commend my
spirit,” were read. And we listened to Fr Rob Galea’s At the Foot of the Cross.
