Q1 was a very different quarter from nearly all the previous ones I have
experienced at VMware. All in all, we continued to drive performance in every facet
of our business and strive towards our bookings goals. But the numbers, on the
surface, do not look healthy. The Q1’18 numbers are below.

$62.9M of bookings in Q1’18

-22% y/y growth in Q1’18

I’m sure you are reading these numbers and thinking, “What happened?”, “What
went wrong?”, or “Is GLAS in trouble?” Rest assured, nothing is wrong and the
business is healthy. For various reasons, there were some bookings that did not
make calendar Q1’18 but were booked in the following few days. When you add

these bookings, you get the following normalized numbers:
