PURPOSE
To establish a Code of Conduct
or list of expected and acceptable behaviors for the team in its work together.
DESCRIPTION
Team works together to come to consensus on what will be their Code of Conduct.
PARTICIPANTS steering, action, neighborhood or household team
TIME 15-30 minutes
SUPPLIES
flip chart and markers
Steps:
• Choose a leader, a coach, a timekeeper and a scribe to record.
• Ask individuals to sit quietly and think about what they see as important behaviors in the team, and make notes for five minutes.
- Think about effective teams that you have been part of in the past.
- What made them work?
- List on a sheet of paper what you think is important to expect of each
other and the team in order to have a quality team.
• Each person shares two items from their list with the whole group.
• Write these items on a flip chart for all to see. Discuss if there are differences until the team gains consensus on which things should be included in their Code of Conduct.
