TranslatingStrengthsToSuccess
PURPOSE
To help participants see the relationship between their strengths and their successes. Also to charge participants with positive feelings about their contributions to the team.
DESCRIPTION
Participants list strengths and successes and discuss them in pairs.
PARTICIPANTS 6 – 8
TIME About 20 minutes
SUPPLIES Paper and pens
Steps:
• Give participants a piece of paper and ask them to draw a line down the middle. On the left side, labeled “strengths” they should list their talents, skills and special training or education. On the right side, labeled “successes,” ask them to list their life and work accomplishments.
• Then, ask participants to draw lines from their strengths to the successes they’ve helped accomplish.
• Ask everyone to pair up and share their lists with one another, discussing how their strengths helped them. Tell them that if other strengths or successes come up during these discussions, they should write them on their lists too.
• After sharing their lists with their partners, have the pairs discuss how their strengths will help them in this change of nursing home culture.
