SignatureStrengths
PURPOSE
To heighten individuals’ awareness of their strengths and how to best put them to use.
DESCRIPTION
Participants identify their strengths and ways they can lend them to the transformation of the facility and organization.
PARTICIPANTS 6 or more
TIME
15 minutes
SUPPLIES
pens and paper, flipchart and markers
Steps:
• Ask participants to make a list of their signature strengths. These are traits they
are known for, things they got “A”s in at school, things their parents brag about, things that won over his or her partner. They can be anything from “standing up for the little guy” to “an eye for color” to “a good fisherman.”
• Then, lead a discussion about the changes taking place and that will take place in the facility and organization. Ask folks to name some of the changes that will be happening. List them on a flipchart. Add any that are missed.
• Ask participants to pair up and share their strengths with their partners. The partner may add other strengths if they feel the person has missed some. Together they should think of ways they can lend their strengths to the changes that are and will take place.
• Bring the group back together and share what they discussed.
• You may want to have people write down their strengths and suggestions for sharing them and compile them for the team so that in the future, the team can reference
the list when taking action steps.
