PURPOSE
To practice good listening
DESCRIPTION
People will have conversations where the idea is to be the one who listens more than speaks.
PARTICIPANTS 8 or more
TIME 15 minutes
SUPPLIES balloons
Steps:
• Ask people to pair up and give a balloon to each pair and have one of them blow it up.
• Ask people to start a conversation with their partners about what they did last weekend. The person who is speaking should hold the balloon. The idea is to get the balloon in the other person’s hands as much as possible, though you want to carry on a conversation and should answer questions put to you by your partner.
• After about five minutes, pull the group back together and ask folks to share how it felt to do the exercise. Ask people to think about the balloon when speaking with others in the future.
