Steps:
• You could give one of the residents a bunch of tootsie rolls and tell the participants that on their hunt, someone has a treat and someone has a password and they must get the password from one resident and then give it to the other to get the treat. But, don’t
tell them who has the password and who has the treat. Ask them to get a person from another team, a resident and a person who works in the office to draw a smiley face on their list. Be creative! The key is to get participants interacting with their environment and the people in it in new ways and paying a little closer attention.
• Print up the lists and leave room for their answers. This could be done over a day so that it is just worked into daily life. It can be done in small teams or as individuals that are part of a small team. You can even pair up staff with residents.
• Set a deadline to hand in the sheets. You may want to give a prize for the team or individual that gets the most answers. Take a few minutes to debrief and ask folks to share new things they learned or how they’ve been inspired to look into something on the list more. You could also have a discussion on what people used as their strategy for the challenge.
