PURPOSE
To take a step back from a challenge the team is facing to get a new perspective on and deeper understanding of it.

DESCRIPTION
Groups or individuals make analogies
to the challenge and share with the team.
PARTICIPANTS 20 minutes
TIME 20 minutes
SUPPLIES
Pens and paper (markers and flip chart if doing the alternative version)
Steps:
• Say to the group by way of introduction: Sometimes the best way to get a point across is to show it in a different context. For instance, if team-building is a
space flight you need to:
Have lots of energy to launch the team Not let the world weigh you down
Reach for the stars
Look at things from a different perspective Wonder what’s out there
Not be afraid of freedom, etc.
This helps us to get a new perspective on things and often helps our understanding of the issue at hand because it is put in terms we may be more familiar with.
• As a whole group, think of a challenge the team is currently facing. Break into groups of 3 or 4.
