P. 79
The city crow grew tired of the distractions that seemed to
bombard her day in and day out. From morning to night,
the cacophony of caws and coos and squawks made
concentrating on a single thought for even a mere minute
all but impossible. Overwhelmed by the stimulating city,
the bird retreated into the woods for a period of peace. On
a tree —alone, as the snow fell gently to the ground, the
crow heard a voice. The soft whispering did not come from
an angelic bird above or a trickster below —it traveled
through the branches as it weaved a story for only the crow
to hear. Each night the tree spun tales that inspired,
delighted, and intrigued the bird. With each passing night,
the crow became more thoughtful, more assured —it began
to understand its purpose is not that of a spectator or
competitor, but instead, it is to be a participant— a creator.
General Message
The path to happiness is through understanding how it is
you arrived at your situation. The Hermit appears when it
is time to go inward, quiet your mind, and connect with
your inner guide. You have within a light that burns
brightly; you need to allow yourself to see it.
