The people of Plympton-Wyoming gathered in Camlachie to remember Sunday. Members of the Legion were joined by the public as they walked from the community centre
to the nearby cenotaph. The Act of Remembrance is par cularly poignant here as the family of Corp. Brent Poland, who was killed in Afghanistan, joins the ceremony. Above, Pat Poland, wearing her Silver Cross to show she is the mother of a fallen soldier, lays a wreath at the cenotaph during the ceremony.

Otter Creek info outdated, turbines should be stopped
 e Independent Sta
Mike deBakker wants the Otter Creek Wind Farm put on hold before it gets nal approval.
He’s part of a new group, Wallaceburg Area Wind Concerns, hoping to stop the project.
Otter Creek is waiting for
nal approval for its 12 turbine project which stretches along the Lambton and Chatham- Kent border from Wallaceburg to Mandaumin Road. e turbines are the tallest ever used in Ontario, at 642 feet. “ is is the rst time these monsters are
going to be put on land,” says deBakker. And he says there hasn’t been any testing on the infra sound of the new turbines.
deBakker is worried any extra infra sound could harm a large number of people since the project is north of Wallaceburg.
e province recently lowered the number of decibels of
infra sound allowable for wind projects. Otter Creek would be under the old regulations.
deBakker is also worried about water. e area is on the same aquifer as North Kent. ere, Water Wells First has been warning of damage to the Kettle Point Black Shale which
surrounds the water table. Fourteen water wells have had problems since the construction
of the turbines began there. WAWC has written letters to
the Ministry of Environment and Chatham-Kent expressing concern and asking for the project to be halted and the principals go back to the public. “Some of the information they originally gave out is outdated or missing now,” he says.
WAWC also started a GoFundMe page for a possible appeal if the project is approved. e company is expecting word from the MOECC by the end of the year.
