Fact is, when you volunteer, you begin to engage your skills in a way you would not have done if you never did.
When you first volunteer, you have a cheaper and harmless way to perfect your skills.
Also, when you meet other volunteers, you have the opportunity to learn, for free, what they do, how they do it and how you can apply that knowledge in what you set out to do.
There is something called “community course”. That's solving a problem faced by a community. Usually, when you volunteer for a community course, you expose yourself and your skills to the kind of people that would need and can pay for your services or products.
