Rhythm/Rhyme: “Doctor Foster”

                   •  MM performs rhyme:
                                   “Doctor Foster went to Gloucester in a shower of rain

                                       He stepped in a puddle right up to his middle
                                              And he never went there again.”

                   •  Try together
                   •  “What did Doctor Foster step in?” (a puddle)
                   •  Everyone speaks rhyme again
                   •  Repeat rhyme while patting laps to the steady beat

                   •  “What do we call this when we pat our laps to the steady pulse of the music?”
                       (keeping the beat)
                   •  Repeating, tapping head to the steady beat

                       *Always give opportunities for S to keep the beat. Ask, “Who knows another way to
               keep the beat?” Speak and pat the beat then ask for more suggestions.
                       S speak the rhyme with T
                       S keep the beat while speaking the rhyme
                       Speak and tap beat on shoulders, nose, head, etc.
