• Sing song together
• “Raise your hands if you’ve ever seen a shooting star.”
• Imagine a shooting star falling to the earth, and imitate the sound with voices
• Pretend the star is going back up to the sky, and imitate the sound
• MM places stars on the music staff, one to go from high-low, the other low-high,
and asks S to follow with their voice
• “A composer is someone who writes music.”
• MM selects a MF to be the composer, to create a new pattern of stars for S to
follow

Pause for Practice
T draws falling star on whiteboard, points to pattern while S sing descending siren
T draws rising star on whiteboard, points to pattern while S sing ascending siren
Optional: Allow S to come up to board and draw contour lines, lines going up and going down to teach
that sound goes up and down. S follow the “conductor” as he/she draws the lines, they follow with
their voice.
