THREADED FIGURE EIGHT

                                       This is a variation of the figure eight loop. The
                                       most frequent uses of the threaded figure eight
                                       are for tying on to the rope and for anchoring
               /                       non-climbing members of a team.
                                         This is probably the commonest way of
                                       attaching rope to the harness. Tying-on using a
                                       Bowline is equally satisfactory, but not as
                                       popular.
