Also known as: BULIN KNOT
Climbers use the bowline - which is known by
them as the bulin knot-as a safety measure
during ascents, when it is clipped into the
carabiner.
Climbers also tie this knot directly around
their waists so that they can adjust the length of
line before undertaking an ascent. Whenever it
is used in this way, the knot must be finished
off with a stopper knot.
