BOWLINE, CASTING
METHOD
Use the method of tying a bowline illustrated
here when you need to fasten a line around an
object. When synthetic rope is used to tie this
knot, it might be less reliable. It is a good idea to
/ secure the end with an extra half-hitch, or tuck
it and trap it beneath one of the rope's strands.
