II. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The objective of this course is to enhance Thai high school students’ interest toward

learning Mandarin Chinese and develop their listening and speaking skills in Chinese
at a basic level. Students will learn: 1.) Hanyu Pinyin, a phonetic system using
Romanization (i.e. alphabet letters) to recognize and transcribe Chinese characters; 2.)
Basic Chinese conversation in daily life; 3.) Basic Chinese characters and 4.) Chinese

culture through songs, traditional craft works, and lectures.

III. Course Text

Handouts and materials given by teachers.

IV. Grading

Each students’ grade will be given based on their performance in the following parts:
