President’s Message

I begin this message with a special thank you to the fi ve candidates for the three
HOA Board positions available this year. Your willingness to put yourselves on the
line for the benefi t of this community is truly gratifying. I learned a great deal during
this election process. I wish to congratulate Steve Swersky, Bob Resch and Harry
Koenig, the successful candidates for the HOA Board of Directors. I wish all the best
for Terry Causin and Stu Sieger and look forward to working with you now and in the
                               future.

It appears that spring has fi nally arrived. The weather is milder; fl owers and trees
are budding; the sounds of lawn mowers and leaf blowers have replaced the snow-
plows and shovels after a long, cold and snowy (especially in March) winter.
Our community has reawakened with the return of the chirping birds (and “snowbirds”) and the reappearance
of people walking and bike riding on our streets. So the theme of this seasonal message will address the safety
of our friends and neighbors that venture out into our roadways to enjoy the warm weather and life in general.
I apologize if this appears like a lecture, but your health and safety is very dear to me.
It appears that as we age, we tend to walk slower and drive faster. Our eyesight suffers as well; particularly it
seems in observing street signs that require us to stop at intersections. Yet we appear to be able to read texts
and e-mails while driving. Texting or reading information on our phones is against the law (both outside and
      inside our community).
I cannot emphasize strongly enough the need to observe our community speed limits and to drive at the posted
speed limit. The life you save will be yours and that of your cherished friends and neighbors. Remember, our
refl exes are not as they were in yesteryears.

And a message to our walkers and bike riders; do not walk or ride in the middle of the road, keep to the sides,
use walkways where possible, and be observant of automobile traffi c. And to those who venture out in the
evenings, please wear refl ective or at least light colored clothing. You may be able to see the cars coming, but
very often they cannot see you.

We have had some automobile accidents at intersections in our community resulting from failure to stop at the
stop signs or yield to traffi c in traffi c circles (cars in the circle have the right of way).

In an effort to protect our residents from those few abusers of traffi c laws, our Traffi c and Safety committee
will be authorizing and scheduling our Security service to randomly monitor the roadways and record offend-
ers not obeying the traffi c rules. Fines and penalties will be issued to any vehicles that fail to stop at stop
signs or drive faster that posted speed limits.

Many of us have pets. When you walk your dogs, you must pick up the litter that they leave and dispose of
that waste in your garbage receptacles (not in storm drains). The Board and Property Management have
received countless complaints in connection with people not picking up after their dogs. In an effort to try and
remedy this situation, we will be installing dog waste stations in couple of locations to see if that improves the
situation. Please cooperate. The waste not only fouls our neighborhood but negatively impacts the environ-
      ment as well.

Finally, I wish to discuss community security. Our security personnel have been instructed to require all
people using the visitor’s entrances to display photo identifi cation (driver’s license). No exceptions. The only
time this “may” be relaxed is during high traffi c holidays or special events at the clubhouse to prevent extreme
traffi c jams at our entrances. There have been instances where our security personnel have been subject to
verbal abuse by residents when asked to show ID. This behavior is not acceptable, places a stain on the entire
community and may be punished by loss of bar code entry and/or fi nes. Please respect our security personnel
and obey their instructions. They are trying to do their jobs and follow our directions to try and keep our com-
munity as safe and secure as possible.

So after all of the above, I want to wish you all a wonderful spring and delightful summer. We are very fortu-
nate to live in the Greens and I wish you all to enjoy your good fortune in good health and a safe environment.
