Day 8: Danang – Hue (B/D)
Drive north toward Hue passing the beach of Xuan Thieu
where first US combat unit landed in 1963. Passing old names
including Nam O Bridge, Kim Lien Station and start crossing the
Pass of Cloud. On the other side of the mountain, follow Route
1A along the coast and travel through the countryside toward
the old city of Hue. Overnight in Huong Giang Hotel in Hue.

Day 9: Hue (B/D)
Leave the hotel on foot toward the site of the former Hue MACV
Compound (Military Advisor Command, Vietnam). Visit other
wartime landmarks including Saigon Morin Hotel, the Post
Office, Hue Railway Station, Redeemer Church. Visit the city’s
most significant tourist attraction being the Citadel of Hue.
Overnight in Hue.

Day 10: Hue – Dong Ha (B)
Depart Hue for Dong Ha the outpost town south of the DMZ.
En route pass by the site of Ai Tu airfield and visit the leftover of
the Citadel of Quang Tri where 81-day fierce battle took place in
1972. Visit the site of Doc Mieu Firebase and later the memorial
site of the DMZ being Hien Luong Bridge spanning the Ben Hai
River. Drive toward the river estuary and visit the underground
tunnels in Vinh Moc. Overnight at Saigon Dong Ha Hotel.

Day 11: Dong Ha - Khe Sanh - Phong Nha (B)
Travel westward along Route 9 and visit the old sites along
the DMZ belt including the artillery base of Camp Carol, the
Rock Pile an important US Army and Marine Corps observation
post only accessible by helicopter. In Khe Sanh visit the Lang
Vay Special Force Base and Ta Con Airfield. Continue the drive
following mountain roads toward Phong Nha. Overnight at the
beautiful Lake Resort.
